How to get subwebs created on your account*

Subwebs allow you to get all the functionality of a Root Web (the main web site) but contained to an individual directory on the site. (i.e., You can have a new theme applied to a subweb, but it will appear in that entire subweb). Subwebs are for advanced users of FrontPage and are usually for those that wish to section off their web site for multiple people to publish to it, but to their own section of the site. You can limit one's access to a particular subweb on your web site on a Unix hosting account.

In order to get a subweb created on your Unix hosting account, you will need to contact our Technical Support department with your account information and the name of the subweb. Subwebs can only be one level away from the Root Web. (i.e., They can be http://www.[insertyourdomain.com]/dir but not http://www.[insertyourdomain.com]/dir1/dir2)

On an NT hosting account, you can convert a directory to a subweb in FrontPage 2000 by:

  1. Log into the web that will contain the subweb, whether that be directly on the site or on your PC.
  2. Go to File, New > Web...
  3. Select Empty Web (or another web according to your preferences).
  4. Specify the location of the new subweb. (i.e., http://www.[insertyourdomain.com]/subweb).
  5. No need to check any additional boxes.
  6. Click Ok.
  7. You will then be put into the subweb.
